David Frockt
Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson appointed David Frockt to the Western Washington University Board of Trustees on October 27, 2025, to fill the seat that Chase Franklin held since 2014. Trustee Frockt’s six-year term will end on September 30, 2031.
Frockt served in the Washington State Senate from 2011 to 2023, representing North Seattle and surrounding suburbs. Over his career in the State Senate, he served in Caucus and Committee leadership in a variety of positions including as Deputy Leader, Vice Chair Senate Ways & Means Committee and Vice Chair Senate Health Committee. While serving, Frockt championed legislation across a variety of policy areas including environment, health care, higher education, and gun violence.
Prior to holding elected office, Frockt served as a Congressional Aide in the US House of Representatives and then practiced law in Seattle for thirteen years. After his retirement from the Senate in 2023, Frockt began a public policy consulting practice and worked with clients on state budget issues and artificial intelligence policy. Since January 2025, Frockt has served in the Ferguson Administration as Deputy Policy Director.
Frockt holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from the UCLA School of Law.
Trustee Frockt will serve on the Academic Affairs and Student Success Committee.
