Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Citlaly Ramirez of SeaTac to serve a one-year term as the student trustee at Western Washington University effective July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
Ramirez is a junior at Western working toward a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, along with minors in Marketing and Theatre. She is a recipient of the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship and works for the WWU Foundation as a Student Ambassador and a Student Engagement Manager. She is trilingual – in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. Ramirez was a speaker at the 2017 Geek Wire Summit where Microsoft President Brad Smith introduced her. In 2018, she traveled to Olympia to testify in support of House Bill 1488 to expand College Bound Scholarship programs to DACA and Washington Dream Act students.
Ramirez also has significant community networking experience through participation with organizations such as Ready to Rise, and the Newman Center; and as an ambassador for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship.
